Big Time Fun in a Small Town at the Aynor Harvest Hoedown

27 Aug 2018   |   By: Chauncey Smith

If you’re like thousands of other fortunate individuals, you’re probably making a list of things you’ve got to experience on your upcoming vacation to Myrtle Beach. September is a fantastic month to visit the Grand Strand, with the scalding hot summer heat easing up a bit but still offering beautiful sunny weather. And if you plan on being in Myrtle Beach on Saturday, September 15th, you should take a short drive inland to the small town of Aynor to experience one of South Carolina’s longest running small town festivals, the Aynor Harvest Hoedown!

This year marks the 39th year of the Aynor Harvest Hoedown, always taking place on the third Saturday of September and drawing thousands of spectators. The Harvest Hoedown celebrates the commencement of fall with lots of fun, food and entertainment that is sure to be perfect for families. Things kick off at 10 AM with a parade running through the main street area, featuring vintage tractors that made the harvests of yesteryear possible.

Following that spectators are invited to peruse the festival area all day until 9 PM. Stuff yourself on delicious lowcountry chicken bog, one of the signature dishes of the coastal Carolina region, or fill up on classic festival fare like funnel cakes and deep-fried corn dogs. The festival area also features dozens of great arts and craft booths offering handcrafted souvenirs to remember the day by. Kids can take part in fun activities like face painting and pony rides. Live music plays throughout the day culminating with a street dance from 6:30 to 9 PM that evening.

Even though summer might be winding down, it’s still a great time to take a vacation to Myrtle Beach, especially with fun-filled events like the Aynor Harvest Hoedown happening in the coming weeks. And with our amazing specials like our Midweek Super Saver or our Fall Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal you can book a fantastic Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach condo at first-class resorts like Myrtlewood Villas, Barefoot Resort or Atlantica Resort!
